World ‘Wind Atlas’ hits the spot

The World Bank and the Technical University of Denmark’s (DTU) has produced the first free “Global Wind Atlas” to help investors identify hotspots for wind farm development.

The Atlas uses modelling technologies and combines wind & climate data along with terrain mapping such as valleys and hills that will provide wind climate data.

This free to use technology will enable developers to compare wind potential across countries and regionally without the need for early stage national wind mapping giving the confidence to investors on ROI and project success.

In what is a significant step forward in the push for a global increase in wind power, already projected to increase by 650% by 2030, the Atlas will hopefully improve the speed of project approval and policy making in the sector.

ENGenerate congratulates the developers and looks forward to seeing the impact it will have in the future.
